Supporting local communities and businesses, protecting our environment and honoring our Māori identity are prioritised in the 2020-2023 Puketāpapa Local Board Plan.
Deputy Board chair Harry Doig says people’s well-being and sustainable development for the future are central to planning in a time of great change and it is more important than ever the board hears your views.
“As we respond to the COVID – 19 pandemic at the local level, our focus will firmly be on supporting people and businesses in recovery and continue building our partnerships with mana whenua.”
This draft plan builds on work already underway through initiatives enabling people to learn, work and volunteer locally; as well as those that support inclusion and positive health and well-being.
“The Kāinga Ora local developments are good examples of the board playing a role in transforming our neighbourhoods, collaborating with organisations and government agencies to ensure we invest in projects that are right for our communities,” says local board Chair Julie Fairey.
“We have advocated, where developments are transforming our neighbourhoods, such as the Roskill South project, to ensure that these are done well for our communities.
"This includes a new park and improvements to Freeland Reserve. We will continue to advocate for better walking and cycling infrastructure and transport links in the area so that people can make the most of our parks, sports fields and facilities.”
This is a great opportunity for Puketāpapa locals to have their voice heard and help shape the future of their community.
