Do you like the sound of more trees in streets and parks, expanded cycleways, community-led gardens, and better public transport in your area?

These ideas could become realities as Henderson-Massey Local Board puts its three-year plan out for consultation.

The draft 2020-2023 Henderson-Massey Local Board Plan proposes several measures that will play a role in making our local area one of the greener parts of Auckland.

Outcomes

It prioritises the natural environment, improved transport, recognition of our diverse ethnic communities, the unique status of Māori and seeks to build stronger neighborhoods.

It also sets out an agenda that will put local communities at the heart of all that the board does. It also recognises the threat posed to our community and the planet, by global climate change.

Henderson-Massey Local Board Chair Chris Carter says that the plan is designed to provide a governance framework that will help build an inclusive community that values our natural environment and celebrates our cultural and ethnic diversity.

Priorities

“Along with the four principal priorities laid out in the plan, the board wants to play its part in tackling the threat posed by global climate change.

“The draft plan seeks to do this by helping fund local initiatives and organizations that make a difference to our environment. We are proposing to fund organizations that help deliver community programmes to reduce waste, as well as developing a climate action plan alongside a number of other environmental initiatives.

Have Your Say

"Why is the consultation about the Plan important? It’s important because local residents help to determine the sort of local community they want to live in.

"The Henderson Massey Local Board encourages all residents to read the proposed Three-Year Local Plan and comment on it. We want to hear your views before finalising our vision for Henderson-Massey."
