More than $18,000 has been allocated to community groups under the Manurewa Local Board Quick Response Grants scheme.
Board chair Joseph Allan says the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the amount available, with pressure on all budgets.
“In the wake of COVID-19, securing funding is going to be increasingly difficult for a lot of groups doing great work in the community, and we are mindful that our own spending needs to be stretched to help as many groups as possible.
“It is better to give a lot of groups our support so that everybody gets something, rather than someone gets everything.
“More than a dozen successful groups are represented, and they all do good things to support the community.”
