Manurewa's business association receives support

The Manurewa Business Association (MBA) has been granted $12,500 towards developing a five-year strategic plan.

Manurewa Local Board chair Joseph Allan says the MBA does great work to make the town centre the heart of the community.

“The board has formed a Town Centre Steering Group with Auckland Council staff, the MBA, Southmall, and police. Our own economic development plan identifies the need to continue to support that work to enhance the town centre.”

Part of that work has seen town centre revitalisation plans implemented, improvements at Te Mahia station, and projects identified in other areas.

The business association has also been active in expanding Manurewa’s Business Improvement District to include Southmall, the Clendon Shopping Centre, and surrounding businesses.

“Our economy has been badly hit by COVID-19 and it is essential that the board plays its part in helping the recovery journey. Alongside the MBA we can provide leadership to help businesses recover from the economic shock.”
