There’s an old saying that the show must go on, and Franklin's art community proved it would take more than the COVID-19 pandemic to stop their recent festival.
Perseverance in the face of the virus has seen the Franklin Arts Festival go ahead online and in 'pop-up' fashion at the Franklin Arts Centre. See our event listing for Franklin Arts Festival Pop Up.
Franklin Local Board deputy chair Angela Fulljames says the event is a tribute to being willing to adapt.
“The board supports the annual event and we salute the artists and the organisers for beating the odds this year to make the show a reality.”
Festival secretary Caroline Burton says the team was determined to go ahead.
"The arts are an important enrichment to our community, particularly during challenging times, and we are grateful to be able to partner with others on behalf of the Franklin community.”
Ministry of Health social distancing guidelines are being followed, masks encouraged, and the numbers admitted at any one time monitored.
The free pop-up exhibition is open to the public Monday to Friday at the centre until 8 October from 9.30am to 4.30pm, and on Saturday from 9.30am to 2.30pm, and the online show can be accessed here.
