More than $9000 has been awarded in Franklin Local Board quick response grants.
With applications totalling just under $33,000, board chair Andy Baker says it was particularly pleasing to support groups active in smaller communities within the region.
The Kawakawa Bay Community Association received a grant that will allow it to operate programmes for young people in the area, and neighbouring Orere, while budding young actors will stage A Tantalising Christmas after the Hunua Theatre Club was awarded $800.
“It’s obvious there will be pressure on funding in all areas in the wake of COVID-19 but it’s great to see communities staging events and continuing to work to support each other.”
Grants:
- Blue Light Ventures, $869 for two young people to attend a skills programme
- Franklin Mobility Bus, $2000 for fuel costs and maintenance for two vans
- Hunua Theatre Club, $800 for A Tantalising Christmas for young players
- Waiuku Toy Library, $629 for event costs
- Waiuku Museum Society, $1850 towards a lighting upgrade
- Arogya Mantra, $1000 for a Franklin Arts Centre Diwali event
- St Andrews Community Trust, $500 towards Waiuku's Festival of Flowers
- Pukekohe Lawn Tennis Club, $900 for Love Tennis weekend
- Kawakawa Bay Community Assoc, $1000 for Kawakawa / Orere youth activities.
