Book lovers will soon have an even better experience at Waiuku’s library.
The town’s library is undergoing refurbishment in October that will see fresh paint and carpeting, and changes to the popular spot’s furnishings.
Franklin Local Board Waiuku subdivision member Sharlene Druyven says the library is a busy hub that plays a huge role within the community.
“Obviously you can get access to any book in the entire Auckland libraries system, but it also offers a raft of community programmes, children’s activities and much more beyond that, even down to a swap programme for excess garden seed.”
The library will close from 12-31 October, reopening at 9am on 2 November.
During that time the book returns slot will be open and hold items will be available for pick-up from the Waiuku Service Centre between 9am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
And to help readers get through the closure the library is offering its Ready to Go Reads service during the refurbishment.
Ready to Go Reads are pre-selected and pre-packaged bundles of five specially chosen books in a range of genres to match a reader’s choice. Residents can fill out an online form to request a pack, and to be advised when it is ready to collect.
Libraries at Pukekohe and Papakura are open and available for customers during the work.
