Champion of Modes winner, Teau (Tee) Aiturau receives his award

Auckland Transport (AT) has announced this year’s Travelwise Choices Award recipients, recognising the commitment of business, individuals and community organisations who encourage staff, students, customers and volunteers to make fewer car journeys.

Now in its fifth year, the awards are a celebration of the success of organisations doing good in the transport space.

Cliff Wilton, AT’s Sustainable Mobility Manager, says "There are so many people doing amazing things across Auckland to reduce the number of cars on the roads, and these awards are a great opportunity for us to give the recognition that these groups and organisations deserve".

The independent panel of judges were impressed with the high standard and commended the outstanding work being done across the region in the sustainable transport space.

Included in the judging panel was Dr Kirsty Wild, Research Fellow at the University of Auckland who says she “was amazed at the variety of great transport initiatives taking places across Auckland”.

“While large campaigns such as Mercury’s Kissing Oil Goodbye are generating meaningful conversations, it’s important to acknowledge the smaller actions that everyday organisations and individuals are doing that together create real change”.
