Three local schools in Albert-Eden have been able to sign up to the Whale Tales public arts trail thanks to funding support from Albert-Eden Local Board.
“2021 has been a hard year for our community so I hope this project and projects like this continue to bring cheer to our community in the coming year,” says Albert-Eden Local Board Chair Lee Corrick.
Starting on 24 January, a total of 80 large Whale Tail sculptures inspired by the critically endangered Bryde’s Whale will dot Auckland’s streets, parks and open spaces. After the art trail closes, the tails will be auctioned off with proceeds going to WWF-New Zealand and their work to protect the Hauraki Gulf.
Whale Tales is presented by WWF-New Zealand, in partnership with Wild in Art and Auckland Unlimited.
