This Parks Week download the GooseChase app and find adventures galore for the whole family at more than 65 of Auckland’s parks.
Managed by Auckland Council, Tāmaki Makaurau has more than 4000 parks and green spaces for us all to enjoy. From a little corner park like Ponsonby’s Bishop Pompellier Reserve through to the huge regional parks like the Waitākere Ranges, these green spaces make up more than 10% of our amazing region.
The activation team in Auckland Council’s Parks, Sports and Recreation have come up with a great way for families to explore these green spaces this Parks Week and have plenty of fun along the way.
Called 101 Ways to Play, the GooseChase challenge will take you to a variety of parks to explore from Pukekohe’s Samuel Miller Reserve in the south through to Te Ārai Regional Park in the north.
Along the way play catch, slide down a hill, frolic with farm animals, shoot some hoops, blast around on bikes, or try skipping stones at a beach.
What is Parks Week?
Parks Week is an opportunity to stop and re-connect with nature.
Our parks play a significant role in all our lives, helping us cope with the stresses and challenges of life.
During the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been our parks and green spaces that have helped us refresh and recharge our emotional batteries.
We have all learned how connecting with nature is so important for our individual and collective well-being.
So, let’s not fall back into bad habits. Download the GooseChase app, log on and have a blast with friends or family – even do some silly and fun things you have never done before.
