Korean business owners will soon be better equipped to deal with business disruption such as Covid-19 with access to a new emergency preparedness resource.
Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) is launching the country’s first business emergency preparedness resource developed specifically to build the resilience of Auckland’s Korean business community, especially small businesses with 20 staff or less.
AEM has been working closely with the Korean Construction Association of New Zealand and the Korean Society to develop the resource which will be available online and in print.
AEM General Manager Paul Amaral says, “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the importance of having the right emergency and business continuity plans in place.
“Up until now, few resources have existed to support the region’s Korean business owners, especially those managing small businesses.”
Language can be a barrier when it comes to communication, so the online and business emergency preparedness resources have been translated into Korean. All translations have been checked for accuracy and cultural relevance by Paul Kang, Vice President of the Korean Society and President of Korean Construction Association of New Zealand.
Kang says, “These new business resources from AEM will help our business owners understand how best to prepare for emergency events that could happen in New Zealand.”
AEM wants Korean business owners and managers to make the necessary plans to prepare their businesses for emergency events. This includes:
- understanding the impacts an emergency event can have on their business
- completing the Emergency Response Plan Template
- developing a business continuity plan for their business
- building relationships with their business neighbours and networks.
More than 35,000 people living in New Zealand identify as Korean with just over 70 percent living in Auckland.
The new online and hard copy resources include easy-to-use advice, templates and a business continuity guide.
