You can be forgiven for not already knowing about Art Yoga, but there are two passionate Italians bringing this form of meditative art to the local community.
Dinny and Giulia are the creators of Art Yoga which was recently awarded an Ōrākei Local Board Community Grant for use towards sharing their vision and unique methods of connecting body, mind and soul in a creative way.
“Our artistic and conscious approach is based on the Therapeutic Art and Yoga Philosophy” explains Dinny.
“We use these methods to provide individuals with alternative tools for personal well-being.”
“Art and Yoga give us strength and the courage to connect with ourselves in a way we might not have considered before, without judgment towards ourselves and our ability to be creative, relax and have fun."
“Through active guided meditations, we provide an alternative perspective of how to express thoughts, feelings, and conflicts for those who find verbal expression challenging.”
Those who join the course will be equipped with tools to help focus and empower themselves through drawing, painting, collage, and other forms of art expression.
From 18 August 2022, the Art Yoga team will be providing a free seven-week meditative art course at the Ōrākei Community Centre on Thursday evenings. Registrations are required so please contact the team directly via one of the links below.
