Tāmaki Makaurau needs you.
We’re inviting Aucklanders to join us in a conversation about why it’s important to vote. It’s local elections time but why should you care? What difference can one vote make? And how do you even know who to vote for?
Find out at this Auckland Conversations panel discussion at the Aotea Centre on Thursday 22 September, at 5.30pm.
Register here for this free event and find out how much your vote is valued.
As a voter, you choose who you want to represent you and to shape significant decisions for Tāmaki Makaurau that affect the daily lives of all Aucklanders. To have the best people elected for the job, it is up to you to vote for who you think has the greatest vision for Auckland.
These questions will be addressed by a youthful and super-informed panel of Aucklanders, who are keen advocates for Tāmaki Makaurau.
Who are the panellists?
Join us for an empowering discussion hosted by Matty McLean from TVNZ’s Breakfast as master of ceremonies with a panel of endearing Aucklanders. Matty will conduct the conversation with Erin Temu from the Electoral Commission, Julie Watson from Silver Rainbow and Rainbow Tick, Latayvia Tualasea Tautai from YWCA – a global movement working for women’s empowerment, leadership and rights and Sunday magazine’s e-tangata journalist Teuila Fuatai.
How do you know who to vote for?
You can get to know local election candidates in person by checking out the many Meet the Candidates events hosted by local communities here.
Candidates also share what they stand for, their priorities and vision for Auckland – look them up at voteauckland.co.nz/findcandidates.
