Opening times are changing for many Auckland Council services over the summer holidays.

24-hour service
Visit the Auckland Council website for information on all council services and facilities. If you can’t find the answer to your questions, our 24-hour call centre is open throughout the holiday period. Just call 09 301 0101.
Service centres
Several Auckland Council service centres will close during the summer holidays, closing late December and reopening in January 2024.
Please note that the following libraries offering council services will be open and available on non-public holiday days:

Rubbish and recycling
Auckland Council will continue to collect your rubbish and recycling over the summer break, but there are some changes to collection days in December and January.

Normal collections will resume on Monday 8 January 2024.
Pools and leisure centres
Visit Auckland Leisure or call 09 301 0101 for opening hours and information about holiday programmes.
Auckland Council libraries
Auckland Council Libraries will operate to this adjusted schedule between Christmas Day and 4 January:
- 25 December: All libraries closed
- 26 December: All libraries closed except for Botany Library
- 27 – 31 December: All libraries are open
- 1 – 2 January: All libraries closed except for Botany Library
- 3 January: All libraries are open and resume their normal days and hours.

Community Safety and Support
Auckland Council, with support from key partners, have also established an online safety portal which enables you to take action on safety issues and find the right contact information quickly. The portal can be found online at Community safety and support (aucklandcouncil.govt.nz).
Local Board offices
Local board offices are closed over the Christmas period and will reopen in January or February.

Booking your holiday at one of our regional parks
When Auckland Council service centres are closed, you can still book via our online booking system where you can search, book and pay. Bookings cannot be taken over the phone, and payments are not accepted at our regional parks.
