Community groups can apply for a grant until 15 September to deliver projects and events in the Upper Harbour Local Board area.
Board chair Anna Atkinson says projects and events that deliver good community outcomes and align with local board plan priorities have a better chance of success.
“We see the difference that grants can make to our community groups, there are many deserving projects and groups that do amazing work in our community."
Atkinson says that grants are an important funding source for community groups, but the reality is that with the annual budget cuts, the board has limited funds for the grants programme.
“We want to continue to support as many groups as we can but with grant rounds typically over-subscribed, applications always exceed the budget available."
“So, it’s important for community groups to consider all the funding opportunities available to them and look at other funding agencies wherever possible."
“We are trying to make every dollar count; if we partly fund projects that can be a catalyst for a group to obtain the rest of the funds and resources they need to be able to deliver the programme or event.”
The 2023/2024 grants programme has been streamlined with two local grants and multi-board grants rounds and no quick response grants.
Priority will also be given to projects and events that support initiatives including community participation and wellbeing, environment, families and newcomers to Upper Harbour, sport and recreation and youth.
