Out on a walk? Thirsty? This map will take care of your hydration needs by unlocking access to all the drinking water fountains across Puketāpapa – whether you are in Wesley, Roskill South, Three Kings, Mt Roskill or Lynfield.
Take the map wherever you go and use the QR code to make sure you can always find drinking water on tap - it’s free, super-healthy and brought to you by Puketāpapa Local Board.
Board chair, Ella Kumar is pleased this initiative has come to life.
“Having access to free and healthy drinking water is a huge asset we should be taking more advantage of."
“Wai (water) is natural, it’s precious and essential to life and our wellbeing, therefore it should be the first and easiest choice of drink."
“This initiative is part of our plan for happy, healthy and connected communities in Puketāpapa,” she says.
Increasing awareness of Puketāpapa’s network of drinking fountains is intended to help reduce consumption of sugary drinks and their impacts on communities.
To improve residents’ health, wellbeing and quality of life, Puketāpapa Local Board developed the Healthy Puketāpapa framework and action plan in partnership with Auckland Regional Public Health Service, community and other providers.
The strategic health and wellbeing framework outlines the delivery of five health and wellbeing priorities and the action plan sets out steps to implement the Healthy Puketāpapa strategy. It is also designed to complement other local plans, including the Puketāpapa Low Carbon Action Plan where actions can come together, especially in areas of transport, food and housing.
