Back by popular demand – Albert-Eden’s number one event is returning on Saturday, 25 November at Mt Albert’s Rocket Park.
The schools cultural festival is one of the highlights of the year in Albert-Eden and has been in the calendar for more than 20 years.
Some teachers will even have happy memories of performing at the event in the past.
Albert-Eden Local Board chair, Margi Watson, is thrilled planning is underway.
“The energy for this event is always high, which involves hundreds of students who invest hours of rehearsal and hard mahi into their performances.”
“It’s a huge day for everyone involved, including whānau and spectators. It’s a great way for children to learn and enjoy each other's culture and weave further connections in our richly diverse community.”
This year, 12 schools in the Albert-Eden area have been invited to return to the stage with a waitlist for other schools who are keen to be involved.
“Due to budget limitations we’ve had to downsize the event slightly this year but we know it will still be a fantastic celebration of culture and our young people,” explains Margi Watson.
“We are so pleased to be going ahead with it as the community’s commitment and passion for this festival resonates with us, making it a priority – we couldn’t let it go.”
In 2017, proved its popularity by winning the outstanding event award from the New Zealand Recreation Association.
