Planning and initial works are finally underway for the replacement of Jubilee Bridge in Panmure.

A civil works partner was awarded the contract to replace the beloved footbridge in mid-January 2024 and Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board chair Maria Meredith is thrilled with progress so far.

“We are delighted to hear work is proceeding well and look forward to returning a part of Panmure’s iconic infrastructure,” says chair Meredith.
“It’s been a long time coming and we are very excited to give the neighbourhood some much-deserved love with a safer bridge.”

Currently, construction material is being procured and preparations to meet resource consent conditions are underway. Manufacturing the replacement bridge is expected to begin offsite from June 2024, with installation around the end of November 2024.

Completion of the works is expected around mid-2025.

Meanwhile, residents will start to see activity coming to life at both ends of the existing bridge as preparation takes place around late August 2024. Before then an update will be provided to notify impacted neighbours and the community.

Panmure residents have not been able to cross Panmure Basin since Jubilee Bridge was closed in July 2023 due to safety issues.
