The popular Kids Arts Festival returns to West Auckland on Saturday, April 6 and is set to enchant families with a captivating exploration of Oceans and Origins.
Recognised as one of the largest events of its kind in Aotearoa New Zealand, this signature festival at the Corban Estate Arts Centre promises local residents a day of immersive experiences that celebrate the wonders of the ocean, migration stories, and the profound connections people share with the sea.
Henderson-Massey Local Board chair Chris Carter is thrilled to see the event’s return and looks forward to enjoying the day’s celebration of the ocean and the rich cultural histories in West Auckland.
“For many of us, including myself, the Corbans’ name is synonymous with the production of wine and is a household name. Our board is proud to be a long-time supporter of the Estate and wishes all the best for the Kids Arts Festival this Saturday, which will surely bring a lot of laugher and joy to our community,” says Carter.
At its heart, Kids Arts Festival centers around a bustling hub of free whānau-friendly Art-making Stations, designed and delivered by Corban Estate Arts Centre's renowned Schools’ Education team, along with resident artists and friends.
A range of other well-known organisations and attractions from across Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland will also be there, providing a wide range of fun experiences for visitors of all ages.
As an integral part of the festival programme, local schools are invited to participate in the West Auckland Schools Art Exhibition, featuring an array of visual artworks by students from Years 0 to 10.
In addition, the Kids Arts Festival Performance Stage provides students and community groups with their time to shine, by presenting their own interpretations of the Oceans and Origins theme to a captivated audience through dance, theatre or musical performance.
Visitors can also expect a fun line-up of kids’ entertainment from some well-known local personalities on stage throughout the day.
Running from 10am-3pm, families can look forward to a day filled with creativity, while tummies are filled at either the on-site cafe the Coffee Studio serving up delicious ethical, seasonal fare; or from a range of visiting food trucks. There’s also plenty of room for bring-your-own picnics that are more than welcome across Corban Estate’s spacious park-like grounds.
For the very first time, this year an interactive Kids Arts Festival Activity Book and Souvenir Art Kit will be available for sale in the Gallery Shop.
Bring the whole family along to Kids Arts Festival 2024 for a day of creativity and let the magic of Oceans and Origins take you on a journey of exploration and discovery together.
Saturday 6 April, 10am – 3pm at Corban Estate, 2 Mt Lebanon Lane, Henderson, Auckland.
