Sporting talents on and off the field in East Auckland are set to be celebrated at the Howick Sports Awards 2024.

Nominations for the awards are open online and close 15 July.

Howick local board chair Damian Light says, “It’s time to celebrate the successes of our incredible local sportspeople. Every year we’re blown away by the amazing talent in our area, creating a challenge for our judges to pick the best.”

Funded by the board and now into its 11th year of operation, the event celebrates the wide array of the region’s local talents and their efforts over the past year.

“We’re proud to see East Auckland represented at a local, regional, national, and global level . And we know they don’t do it alone – that’s why we celebrate the coaches, administrators and volunteers who enable these stars to shine,” adds Light.

Board funding of $21,000 allows two free tickets for all finalists, substantial price reductions for other guests, purchasing awards, a guest speaker, catering and administration costs.

Finalists will be announced 1 August and ticket sales open on 8 August.

Howick Sports Awards administrator, Michael Bongiovanni comments, “The awards are a meaningful and uplifting event where clubs and schools gather annually to celebrate achievements and build relationships. I encourage all clubs to submit nominations and join in the awards festivities.”

The awards will be held on Thursday 29 August 2024 at the Pakuranga United Rugby Club.
