Work to clear the Marawhara Stream culvert area (underneath Marine Parade North) of sediment by Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters team will be completed by the end of August.
This is the second time this year the culvert has been cleared after a previous clearing in January under the Mayor’s Storm Resilience Fund.
The work is a proactive approach to reduce flood risk and provides an opportunity for the stream to return to its pre-disturbed condition and helps improve the overall ecological health.
The culvert will be cleared twice yearly.
