Mount Roskill’s Keith Hay Park has had a glow-up, with new LED lights providing more sparkle to the well-used sports fields.
Following a Puketāpapa Local Board investment, the sports field floodlights now have improved LED lights, which provides better quality light coverage, reduced power consumption and additional light longevity.
Puketāpapa Local Board Chair Ella Kumar says the Keith Hay upgrades are part of a wider suite of lighting improvements for Puketāpapa facilities this year.
“It’s important our community has access to high-quality facilities, and in 2024 we’re proud to have funded upgraded lights at Keith Hay Park, Lovelock Track at Mount Roskill War Memorial Park and Margaret Griffen Park.
“The upgrades have provided park users and sports clubs with better lighting, while also providing Auckland Council with long-term savings from reduced maintenance and power costs due to the improved efficiency of the LED lights,” says Ella.
Auckland United FC Club Manager Adam Salmon says the new lights have made a considerable difference for their teams at Keith Hay Park.
“On behalf of Auckland United FC, we would like to say a massive thank you for the new lights that have been upgraded at Keith Hay Park.
“The new lights are significantly better than what we previously had, we’ve also had a lot of great feedback from our club members. Auckland United has more 2000 active players that use the fields every day – and the new lights allow for a greater training and playing experience for all users.”
