Have your say - new play spaces on the way for Waitakere Ranges

Two local playgrounds and reserves in the Waitākere Ranges area are due for upgrades and Auckland Council wants your ideas!

Waitākere Ranges Local Board chair Greg Presland says that participating in consultations for local parks and reserves will help Council create great recreational opportunities.

“With Glen Eden and Titirangi both set to benefit from exciting upcoming developments, this is your chance to contribute to modern, fit-for-purpose public spaces in our communities that can be enjoyed for many years to come,” Greg says.

“We want our playgrounds and reserves to reflect the needs and desires of our local communities for all to enjoy, so I encourage everyone to get their thinking caps on and get involved.”

Tautoru / Maywood Reserve

Glen Eden’s Tautoru / Maywood Reserve is being developed, and we want to hear how often you use the reserve and what equipment and activities you would like to see.

Some of the additions being considered include trees for shade, an orchard, a swing set or other small play items, seating, and a pathway for access from the road.

This is an exciting development for Glen Eden, so take the chance to have your ideas heard and shape the future of your local spaces.

Waima Reserve playground

Over in Titirangi, the much-loved Waima Reserve playground is up for renewal. The playground, which is a key facility for Waima and Woodland Park communities, needs modern and more accessible play equipment.

If you use the Waima Reserve playground, we want to hear your ideas for the new and improved play space. Do your tamariki love climbing and hanging? Spinning, rocking or jumping? Do they love swings and slides? Nature play or music play?

Include any other improvements or additions you can think of for the reserve, like drinking fountains and improved access from the concrete paths.

How to have your say
