Albert-Eden Local Board workshops will be open digitally to the public from February 2025.

A number of Tāmaki Makaurau’s 21 local boards already hold open workshops, with Albert-Eden next in line to invite the community to view these workshops online.

Members of the public will be able to observe, but not participate during the sessions, via online (MS Teams).

The workshops cover oversight and delivery of projects in their work programme, such as updates on events, funding, and asset renewals, but are not decision-making sessions.

Chair Kendyl Smith says the move to open the workshops online follows the Ombudsman’s Open for Business report – recommending an open-by-default approach to workshops.

“It’s great our workshops will be open for the public to attend, as these sessions provide context into how local government operates, as well as showcasing the wide range of work and topics the board is involved with daily as we work to serve our community.”

Any closed items will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Workshops for Auckland Council’s Governing Body – the mayor and councillors – are also being made open to the public by recording and uploading video to council’s website.

To get online access to a workshop, please email:AlbertEdenLocalBoard@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz at least two working days in advance of the workshop.
