A crowd favourite for Ōtāhuhu and nearby suburbs returns Saturday 15 March.

The Ōtāhuhu Family Fun Day is delivered by a community committee, Tōia Library - Te Pātaka Kōrero o Ōtāhuhu (Ōtāhuhu) and Ōtāhuhu Business Association and is fully funded by the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board.

Now in its 16th year, this beloved event is steadily regrowing in popularity, likely to draw nearly 3,000 people this year.

“This is one of the reasons we’re so proud to invest in events like this and ensure they remain completely free for everyone. By doing so, we’re helping to bring our local board's vision to life—empowering community networks like the teams at Tōia Library-Te Pātaka Kōrero o Ōtāhuhu and the Ōtāhuhu Business Association, to create moments that truly bring us all together, where we can have fun and celebrate right here in our own backyard,” says board chair Tauanu’u Nick Bakulich.

Ōtāhuhu local and board member Christine O’Brien shares, “It is about creating a sense of community. It’s something special, made by the people, for the people. It’s about making it accessible for whole families who can walk on over to enjoy a free, welcoming day that’s right in their neighbourhood. We’d love to see you all there, come down, have a chat with us, and kōrero about what’s coming up next.”

Thanks to the board contributing $10,000 towards the Fun Day, the event is completely FREE: free stage entertainment, free bouncy castles, free face-painting, free food and interactive stalls offering information and opportunities for the community.

A little splash of color goes a long way. FREE face painting at the fun day.

The board is an avid supporter of local community partners who are great at running projects and events, helping bring people together, big regional events, but made just right for the community.

Richette Rodger Ōtāhuhu Town Manager says, “I have been involved with Ōtāhuhu Family Fun Day from the beginning. It is an amazing free community event where our families can come and enjoy the day with free activities for the kids, a stage with great local entertainment, food delivered by organisations in our community and stallholders with information and advice. It also showcases Tōia Library, and everything it has to offer our community. We have health care providers, family support, sports clubs and schools. It’s a great day out in Ōtāhuhu!”.

An all-day community occasion packed with fun for everyone.
