New year, new Mount Albert War Memorial Hall.
The War Memorial Hall, which is situated near the Rocket Park and popular Mt Albert Recreation Centre, will undergo a facelift to improve the overall experience for the different users of the popular facility.
From May 2025, upgrade work will commence, with the spruce-up consisting of: new carpet, kitchen/toilets, upgraded lighting and paint work.
Chair Kendyl Smith says the improvements will be welcomed.
“The war memorial hall is a rock of the Mount Albert community, and it’s well-used and great council facility that’s popular with events, exhibitions and social functions. While it’s entirely functional as it is, the venue does need a bit of aroha,” says Kendyl.
“It’s great we’re able to get these upgrades underway, and we’ve chosen to do the work outside the busy Anzac Day events, to minimise disruption to the community during this time.”
The facility will be unavailable for bookings during the upgrades, with the work to take place from May 19th – June 30th.
