Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a family friendly weekend activity, the Clevedon Art Trail promises a creative and inspiring experience.
Local artists and makers have been hard at work preparing for the popular annual event, now in its ninth year.
The festivities start early with a special Art Trail exhibition opening on Friday March 14, from 5-8pm at Hallertau, Clevedon. This preview will give visitors a sneak peek at the incredible art on display over the weekend.
Just a 30-minute drive from Auckland, the Clevedon Art Trail offers a perfect self-drive adventure into the rural countryside. Visitors can explore open studios, watch free live artist demonstrations, take part in hands-on workshops, and enjoy stunning exhibitions.
Franklin Local Board Chair and Clevedon local Angela Fulljames expects to see even more visitors in Clevedon for the annual event.
“The Clevedon Art Trail gets bigger and better every-year which is wonderful for artists and local businesses.
“Funding from Local Board through our arts broker programme supports our growing artistic community in Clevedon.
“I look forward to visiting the array of studios and immersing myself in all the artistic works on offer,” she says.
The James and Cheryl Wright Gallery will be showcasing the work of 35 talented artists in Clevedon Village. Just a short walk away, Clevedon Creatives & Co. will be hosting live demonstrations throughout the weekend.
Down the Alleyway and up the stairs Gracie Matthews a talented Costumier, will be in her new studio, where you can try your hand at vintage hand-crank sewing.
At the District Centre, artist Helen Morrison, known for expressive landscape paintings, will be hosting a free landscape painting workshop on Saturday from 12-2pm, space is limited, so be sure to book in advance by emailing morrison.helen@gmail.com.
Also at the District Centre will be Ana Te Huurne, an artist inspired by indigenous trees, birds and natural clay pigments in Te Wairoa.
The Opening Exhibition is on Friday 14th March 5-8 pm and the Open Studio Event is on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March 2025, 10 am-4 pm each day.
