Clevedon is evolving, and there is an opportunity to upgrade and make better use of the Clevedon Community Hall. An approved concept design aims to transform the hall into a functional public space that will include library, arts, and council customer services in the future – enhancing access and accessibility for all residents.
Nearby suburbs like Pukekohe and Waiuku already enjoy similar benefits of a well-integrated community hub, bringing together library services, arts, and council customer services in a shared space.
With proposed plans to transform the town hall and surrounding area into a more functional and accessible community space, opportunities are also being considered to improve how people move around the Clevedon Village.
Plans are being explored with Auckland Transport to improve road safety, with the long-term goal of transforming the village centre into a pedestrian friendly space. Details will be shared once they are finalised.
Franklin Local Board Chair Angela Fulljames says, “With a concept plan approved, the next step is identifying the needs of our existing community while planning for future growth.
“We are proposing for incremental changes by bringing the volunteer library service into the Clevedon District Centre, which will increase its use and begin us on the path to a full-service hub envisaged to be eventually the Clevedon Hall.
“With consultation on Auckland’s Annual Plan now open there is the opportunity for locals to provide feedback on this idea.”
The Annual Plan 2025/2026 consultation runs until 28 March 2025. It asks our communities for feedback on investment and funding plans for 2025/2026, including how we fund funding major events and destination marketing, and priorities for the Franklin Local Board which includes the Clevedon Community Hub.
Local boards are responsible for the local services that strengthen Auckland communities, including parks, environmental initiatives, libraries, pools, arts, recreation centres, community halls, programmes, and events, as well as support for local community groups.
“The feedback you provide will help inform local decisions we make for Clevedon, and Auckland, we encourage everyone to take the time to have their say!” says Fulljames.
Each local board’s plan for the year is included in the Annual Plan after carefully considering the feedback from their local community.
When completing the consultation, you will be asked about your thoughts on:
-
Council’s plan for next year
-
Funding major events
-
Our Local Board Agreement
-
Proposed changes to targeted rates, fees, and charges
-
Tūpuna Maunga Authority and its governance of the 14 Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains) of Tāmaki Makaurau .
There are a few ways to provide feedback on the Annual Plan, visit akhaveyoursay.nz/ourplan for more information.
