The opportunity for local businesses, community providers and groups to apply for the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board $2,000 Quick Response Grant, closes 7 March 2025.

The board successfully supported 33 applications across the two 2023/2024 Quick Response grant rounds, awarding $56,278 in funding.

Grants that help the community deliver positive outcomes for the local area continues to be a focus for the board area.

Board chair Tauanu’u Nick Bakulich says, “This grant is suitable for smaller-scaled projects. Our area has so many not-for-profit and community groups in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu making a real difference in many areas. The board is committed to supporting these groups and helping them in their efforts. We’re here to back community networks, providing funding, facilities, and other forms of support to help them deliver solutions that work for own communities. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to empower those who know the needs of locals best.”

The grants will support programmes or projects that meet one or more of the boards outcomes:

  • targeted at growing a confident and sustainable local economy

  • building well connected, engaged and active communities

  • protecting our environment and heritage for future generations

  • celebrating our unique tanga whenua and pacific identities

  • opportunities for our children and young people to grow and succeed, and thrive and belong in safe, healthy communities.

Bakulich says higher priority is given to projects that promote youth leadership, employment, community inclusivity, environmental initiatives, climate action, healthy living, town centre revitalisation, safety, and support for vulnerable groups.

“It’s important that all individuals, organisations, and groups applying have projects that will benefit our Māngere and Ōtāhuhu communities. I encourage our community groups/businesses to apply for the quick response grants, which close on 7 March 2025. Decisions will be made on 16 April 2025 for projects starting after 1 May 2025,” Bakulich adds.

Quick response grants are generally up to $2,000 and are offered up to twice a year.

Applications are open and close 7 March 2025 and applicants can apply here.
