Getting to and from school will be safer for Mount Albert’s Elim Christian School – thanks to transport upgrades funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board.

The board invested $200,000 into a new pedestrian crossing at McLean Street, as well as three speed humps (McLean St and Allendale Rd), to reduce car speeds and create safer connections.

The school raised concerns with the board around safety issues, and the board acted swiftly, working with Auckland Transport to deliver the new speed calming measures.

“Safety at the school gate is imperative, children need be able to safely get to and from school, that’s non-negotiable, and we’re pleased that Elim engaged with the board so we could get an outcome.
“Auckland Transport have delivered a safer and slower environment for vehicles in and around the school.”
