Lagoon Edge is set to be upgraded, with new furniture, more space and lighting

The work will take nine months to complete

Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Chair Maria Meridith has welcomed the upgrade

Panmure’s Lagoon Edge is set for a glow-up with an upgrade that celebrates the cultural and historical significance of area.

The mahi consists of new seating, public toilets, drinking fountains, cycle parking, better lighting, a skatepark spectator area and more.

Maungakiekie Local board chair Maria Meredith says the work will massively improve the area.

“The Lagoon Drive enhancements will transform the area, unlocking better access, more public space, and providing a much-improved area for our community to enjoy.
“With the new Panmure Bridge on track to open by mid-2025, we’ll have two new assets and improved connectivity around Lagoon Drive, which is really exciting.”

The project is being carried out by Eke Panuku, working alongside Mana Whenua and the Maungakiekie - Tāmaki Local Board, and is expected to take nine months to complete.
