  • Reduced rate for the Onehunga Business Improvement District (BID).

  • The Onehunga Business Improvement District (BID) has been reduced from $1,000,000 to $410,000.

  • The Governing Body will set the BID targeted rate as part of the Annual Plan and budget 2025/2026.

The targeted rate for the Onehunga Business Improvement District (BID) has been reduced from $1,000,000 to $410,000.

The Onehunga BID was set at $1,000,000 for 2024/2025, however at a Special General Meeting (SGM) last month a resolution was approved by Onehunga Business Association (OBA) members attending to reduce the rate to 2025/2026 rate to $410,000.

The local board has now approved the next steps for the Governing Body to set the Onehunga BID rate at $410,000.

Local Board chair Maria Meredith says the new rate reflects the view of the majority of the OBA membership.

“We’ve had a lot of feedback and engagement with the Onehunga Business Association, and we’ve made a decision to reduce the targeted rate, this falls in line with the resolution from the Special General Meeting in April.
“We understand this a difficult time for the Onehunga Business Association, it was not a decision that was made lightly for our board, and we look forward to working with them.”

The Governing Body will set the BID targeted rate as part of the Annual Plan and budget 2025/2026.

Once the rates are approved by the Governing Body, the council will collect the targeted rate funds effective from 1 July 2025.
