Papakura community groups and young people now have the opportunity to apply for two local grants designed to support community-led projects and youth development.
The Papakura Local Board is inviting applications for the Small Grants Fund 2025/2026 and the Papakura Youth Scholarship Grant 2025/2026. Both funds aim to empower the community and support the aspirations of local rangatahi.
In 2024, over 50 young men completed Kura Cares ‘Positive Pathway’ – a 10 week programme that builds confidence, resilience, and leadership in rangatahi aged 15-18. Funded through a local grant, the programme is making a real difference in the lives of young people living in Papakura.
Small Grants for local projects
The Papakura Small Grants Fund provides financial support for grassroots activities that benefit the local area. Grants of $500 to $2000 are available for small scale projects, events, or initiatives that bring people together, promote wellbeing, or enhance local spaces.
Projects should align with the Papakura Local Board’s priorities, including building community connection, supporting youth and whānau, protecting the environment, and celebrating local identity.
Applications for Small Grants close at 10pm Thursday 1 August 2025.
Youth Scholarship Grant supports rangatahi
The Papakura Youth Scholarship Grant helps young people aged 12 to 24 pursue education, training, leadership, cultural, or sporting goals. Scholarships may be used to cover costs such as school fees, uniforms, study resources, laptops, sports gear, or travel for learning opportunities.
The scholarships are designed to support young people who may be facing barriers and need extra help to continue their education or take the next step in their development.
Applications are open now and close at 10pm Thursday 15 August 2025.
How to apply
Applications for both grants are submitted online via Auckland Council website search for “Papakura Local Board Grants”. Full details and eligibility criteria, and funding guidelines can be found on the main Auckland Council website.
