Auckland Council once again invites mobile food vendors to apply for the opportunity this summer, and the next, to cater for thousands of visitors to the renowned west coast destination of Muriwai Regional Park.

The council is currently seeking expressions of interest from a wide range of mobile food businesses, capable of delivering high-quality, multi-option refreshments on demand.

Manager of Regional Parks Scott de Silva says the council hopes to secure up to five food and beverage providers at the former café site on Motutara Road, near the main entrance to Muriwai Beach.

“We are seeking vendors who are committed to sustainability, can offer quality food, and provide an exceptional experience for park visitors and residents alike. Successful traders should be ready to open from 1 November, and continue catering through peak periods, weekends, and the summer holidays," says Scott De Silva.

“This popular location is renowned for its dramatic west coast beaches, famous gannet colony, and the wide range of recreational activities available, like surfing, walking, cycling, and sightseeing,” Scott says.

“It’s an opportunity for traders to set up at one of Auckland’s most iconic outdoor destinations – for a seasonal period of up to two years.

“Whether you're a food entrepreneur, street food enthusiast, or an ice cream and coffee seller, this summer presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase your offerings at Muriwai Regional Park. Join us in creating a vibrant summer atmosphere and delight park visitors with your high-quality culinary creations, while supporting the council’s values of environmental care, community connection, and quality service.”

Since the closure of Sand Dunz Beach Café last year, Auckland Council has completed a thorough assessment of the former café building and found that substantial repairs or redevelopment is required. Access to the café building will remain closed.

One mobile food truck successfully traded on site last summer. The council supports having a wider range of choices available in the short-to-medium term until a solution can be reached for a more permanent food and beverage option at Muriwai.
