Two new compliance wardens are adding an extra level of safety and compliance in Kaipātiki thanks to a pilot programme funded by the local board.
The wardens will respond to Auckland Council Call Centre jobs, conduct regular patrolling of the local area, and address areas of concern specific to Kaipātiki.
“Ansh and Kuresa are out and about now in the Kaipātiki area as a proactive resource, for visibility and public reassurance with public nuisance, and antisocial behaviour as their primary focus,” explains Auckland Council Compliance Manager Adrian Wilson.
The wardens will also be contacting local business associations, schools and community groups in the coming weeks and months to hear their concerns and make a plan catered specifically to issues in the local community.

“That means if local school kids are meeting up in town centres causing issues every Friday after school, we can get the wardens to be there every Friday after school, proactively. So, they're very flexible in terms of their working hours and areas which really is governed by the issues relevant to their particular local board area,” Wilson says.
Common issues the wardens will be looking out for include:
Public Safety and Nuisance – obstruction, aggressive begging, busking, skateboarding
Rough sleepers/homeless
Signage issues
Street trading
Beach patrols – Dog off leash, parking on beaches, boat ramps etc.
Freedom camping
Illegal street trading
Breach of liquor ban
