Summer is the perfect time to get out and experience everything on offer in Upper Harbour.
From coastal adventures and outdoor movies to neighbourhood festivals, swimming, parks and free activities for all ages, there’s plenty happening across the area.
Supported or funded by the Upper Harbour Local Board, these activities make it easy for locals to stay active, connected and outdoors all summer long.
1. Dive into play with Out & About activities
Out & About Auckland brings a full line-up of free summer fun to parks across Upper Harbour. Families can enjoy messy play and pop-up obstacle courses, while older kids and adults can join Hungerball, wellness sessions or the Wild Streets Festival of Play.
Kayaking and Giant Stand-up Paddleboarding are also on offer at Scott Point Beach on 8 February. Beginners learn the basics before heading out to explore the local coastline. Registrations are required and the sessions are run by the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre.
Register for Giant SUP and for all events and updates, follow Out & About Auckland on Facebook.
2. Make a splash at Albany Stadium Pool
Albany Stadium Pool is a favourite for families and water play lovers. People can swim in the 20 m lane pool, splash around in the leisure pool full of interactive water features, and relax in the spa and sauna. For kids, there are water cannons, inflatables, and a splash pad. There’s also a gym and group fitness classes, making it a great destination for fun and activity.
3. Explore parks, playgrounds and walking paths
Upper Harbour has plenty of green spaces ideal for walks, picnics and play. Luckens Reserve is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view, while the Hobsonville Point Coastal Walkway offers scenic waterside strolling.
Sanders Reserve is popular with dog walkers and bikers, and the area boasts many neighbourhood playgrounds like Observation Green at Scott Point. Find a park or walk near you.
4. Watch Movies in the Park at Luckens Reserve
Settle in for a fun night outdoors with Movies in Parks: Moana 2 at Luckens Reserve on 14 March, with pre-entertainment from 4.30pm and Moana 2 screening at 6.30pm. Bring a blanket, pack some snacks and enjoy an easy, free evening under the stars with friends and whānau.
