Following the District Court’s voiding of the October election for the Papatoetoe subdivision of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board, a new election is now required on 9 April 2026.

Nominations are open for candidates in the new election. There are four seats to be filled and nominations are open until midday, Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Candidates are able to submit their nominations online; and alternatively nominations forms are available from the Papatoetoe and Manukau libraries, the electoral office or downloadable from VoteAuckland.

To be nominated, candidates must be eligible to stand as at 1 August, the date of the close of nominations for the now voided election. Candidates must also be New Zealand citizens, 18 years of age or over and on the New Zealand electoral roll. Their nomination form needs to have signatures from two voters enrolled in the Papatoetoe subdivision area, and a deposit of $200 (this is refunded if they poll greater than 25 per cent of the lowest successful candidate).
