Orere Point Beach Reserve 

Nestled on the edge of Tāmaki Makaurau, Orere Point Beach Reserve is part of an dyllic coastal town with the Hauraki Gulf on its doorstep. Just 65km drive away from the city’s hustle and bustle, it’s the perfect get away.   

Surrounded by picturesque regional parks like Tapapakanga, Waitawa and Tawhitokino, it’s the perfect spot to pitch a tent, set up the picnic, take a stroll along the coastal trail, soak in the views and let the kids run around the reserve.   

When there is still plenty of energy to burn, take a few steps back from the beach reserve to find a playground with picnic benches and restrooms – funded and maintained by Franklin Local Board and Auckland Council.

Head along the Pohutukawa Coastline to discover Sunkist Bay for a scenic walk where you can watch a sensational sunrise. This peaceful spot is where you can picnic, swim, drop your kayak in or fish off the wharves. There is even a sweet playground for the little ones and a basketball court – all provided by the local board. Reserve the Sunkist Bay Reserve’s Log Cabin for your next off-the-grid get together.  

Clarks Beach Reserve Playground

Ngahere Ki Uta / Clarks Beach Recreation Reserve  

If your mission is to plan the ultimate day trip at one of Auckland’s newest playgrounds – double down on the fun by heading over to Ngahere Ki Uta / Clarks Beach Reserve to show off your culinary bbq skills, spread out the picnic, hang with the kids, dribble the ball, do some wheelies and potentially get on the green for a spot of golf.   

The reserve has three basketball half courts, a skatepark, shaded area with bbqs and picnic benches – all funded and managed by the board and council. The recently upgraded ocean-themed playground is designed to show its connection to the Manukau Harbour with unique play experiences and stunning seaviews of the harbour and Clarks Beach golf course.
