A month-long celebration of sustainable living starts from 22 March, with a number of free and engaging events to attend.

The Albert-Eden and Puketāpapa Eco Festival is a four-week celebration, that connects locals, creates networks and showcases climate action solutions at a localised level.

The festival is partly funded by the Puketāpapa and Albert Eden Local Boards, and there are several free events to attend.  The theme for this year is: Eat, Move, Talk, Grow and Shop.

Puketapāpa Local Board Chair Roseanne Hay says the four-week eco festival is a fantastic way to dive deeper into sustainability practices.

“We’re proud to sponsor and be involved in such an important event for Puketapapa. The impacts of climate change are easy to see, with many parts of Auckland, and our local board area, seeing first-hand what happens with severe weather and flooding. This festival is a great way to try and see what ways we can play a part in being more environmentally friendly.”

Albert-Eden Local Board Chair Margi Watson adds:

“It’s great we can provide such a wide range of events and workshops over a four-week period so it’s easy to get involved. The programme caters for a wide range of ages and comfort levels of sustainable methods, there really is something for everyone at the Albert-Eden and Puketāpapa Eco Festival.”

Some of the events at the festival in the Puketāpapa Local Board are include: Zero Waste Cooking, Whānau Hub Seniors Lunch, Pedal, Reduce, Reuse, Sponge Garden-Flood Resilient and more.

While some Albert-Eden highlights feature: Waiōrea Craft Club, Be Ready for Stormy Weather, Te Auaunga Restoration, Furniture Restoration Course and more.

There is a festival booklet to view via a QR code. To see the full schedule, please visit the EcoFest website.
