During this time, it’s natural for people to wonder what’s changing - and what isn’t - when it comes to public transport.
Auckland’s public transport network continues to operate as usual, with buses, trains and ferries running to regular timetables. This reflects the current phase 1 position of the national fuel supply response.
AT’s actions are guided by the government and Auckland Council, and we’re focused on being ready to support Aucklanders. We’re also working closely with our public transport operators and other public transport authorities to understand and plan for any fuel challenges, and to support services where needed.
What hasn’t changed includes:
- Services are running as usual on buses, trains and ferries
- How you pay for your trip – use your AT HOP card or contactless payment method as usual
- Concessions and accessibility support
What may change is how busy services are. As more people choose public transport, some services, particularly during peak periods, may be busier than usual. Our public transport network has capacity to support this increase, and AT is constantly monitoring usage and responding where needed to keep services moving safely and reliably. At particularly busy times, some customers may need to wait for the next service, which is usually not far away.
Travellers can help by planning ahead, checking real time updates and capacity information on the AT Mobile app or online.
Plan your trip using journey planner on the AT Mobile app or AT website.
