Looking for shiny new play options in South Auckland for the little ones? Families across Franklin now have three more reasons to get outside with freshly upgraded in Glenbrook, Pukekohe and Patumahoe to satisfy the next playground pursuit.
Funded by Franklin Local Board, the refreshed play spaces feature new equipment, improved accessibility and playful designs inspired by their local communities.
Kahawai / Glenbrook Beach Reserve
The first of the three upgrades reopened in June 2026, just in time for the winter school holidays.
Perched on the edge of the Waiuku River, Glenbrook Beach Reserve’s refreshed play space features one of the region’s best vantage points a swing can offer and a seesaw with plenty of bounce – what more do you want?
The upgrade has built in all the necessities for a perfect family outing, including natural play elements, park furniture, and refurbished.
Clive Howe Recreation Reserve
Patumahoe’s much-loved Clive Howe Recreation Reserve received its upgrade in early July 2026, with a reimagined space for children and families to play, connect and spend time outdoors together.
The revamped playground includes a brand-new trampoline, climbing structure, basket swing and slide, along with seating area where parents and caregivers can relax while keeping an eye on the action.
Developed in partnership with Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua and with input from Patumahoe Primary School, the project reflects the local values, cultural connections and community aspirations.
Jutland Road Reserve
Fresh from the paddock, this one’s worth crowing about.
Jutland Road Reserve’s newly opened farm-themed play area features an unmissable tractor play structure, a smaller tractor, swings, spinner, trampoline, slide, custom timber crates, caterpillars, with carrot and potato-shaped landscaping features.
Designed to be field day for future farmers - this project was developed in partnership with Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua and with Tamaohoe School’s feedback.
