About Fort Takapuna - The Barracks
The Fort Takapuna Barracks date back to the outbreak of World War II in 1939 and were originally large open dormitories. The buildings fell into disuse and disrepair following the end of the War until a restoration project began in 2014 to bring them back to life for the community to utilise.
These days, the Barracks are used for a variety of community activities, including exercise classes, meetings and are often a popular choice for wedding receptions, with the reserve next to the Barracks providing stunning views out over Narrow Neck beach.
