About Ōtara Music Arts Centre (OMAC)
Ōtara Music Arts Centre - Takutai a Kiwa (OMAC) is located within the heart of the Ōtara township, fostering a creative environment that allows aspiring artists to focus on their musical dreams. In 1988, Manukau City Council (now Auckland Council) became the first council to administer a facility especially for musicians. For over 30 years, OMAC has hosted both local and international music talent.
OMAC offers year-round programmes and classes with experienced music tutors for guitar, bass, drums, singing and piano/keyboard. It is one of only two local government-funded community arts venues in New Zealand to boast an industry-standard professional recording studio. It is home to Sistema Aotearoa, a youth development programme, and the annual Stand Up Stand Out (SUSO) music and dance competition for Auckland secondary schools. OMAC is located next to Fresh Gallery Ōtara and the Ōtara Library. Other nearby local community facilities include the Te Puke ō Tara Community Centre and the Ōtara Pool and Leisure Centre.

Venue hire
The main hall is a rehearsal and performance space available for hire, and is suitable for music, dance and other performing arts. With a capacity of 150 people, it is fully equipped with a lighting rig, sound system, green room, boxed staging and kitchen facilities.
