About Sunderland Lounge - Te Rere
The Sunderland Lounge - Te Rere, was built in the late 1940s and was initially used as the airbase’s cinema. The building was named after the Sunderland seaplanes, which were based at Hobsonville in the 1940s and 1950s.
A second venue, the Headquarters - Te Mahere, is located across the road and is available for hire separately or in conjunction with the Sunderland Lounge - Te Rere. The Headquarters Park connects the two community venues with a basketball half-court, swing, seating and established shady trees.
Venue hire
Sunderland Lounge - Te Rere, has been beautifully refurbished and comprises of a large community hall, a community space with a large kitchen, and a new meeting room.

Office hours
The venue team for Sunderland Lounge - Te Rere and Headquarters - Te Mahere are available at the Headquarters - Te Mahere building from Monday to Friday 9am to 2.30pm except public holidays and during shutdown periods.
