Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board members, local residents, council staff and contractors attended a special blessing ceremony for the new public toilets at Kiwi Esplanade Reserve, Māngere Bridge on 4 October.

The old toilets were recently replaced with a brand-new, wheelchair and parent-friendly facility and now features artwork designed by local primary schoolchildren.

Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board Chair Lemauga Lydia Sosene says the toilet renewal was long overdue, but it’s great they are ready for summer.

“This park is a very popular spot for all our local board residents and so it’s great they will have a nice new toilet facility, featuring beautiful artwork by our local kids,” she says.
