Join us for a fun printing workshop where children will create their own series of unique bamboo sheath prints while learning the basics of oil-based ink application.
Led by local practicing artist Ray Stoddart and experienced arts tutor Leela Bhai, we’ll develop a series of observational drawings learning how to capture the natural beauty of the environment. These drawings will then serve as the inspiration for our next step.
Following the pioneering bamboo print technique of famous New Zealand painter and printmaker Stanley Palmer, Ray and Leela will demonstrate how to transfer our sketches onto unique handmade bamboo sheath plates. Using oil-based ink and a printing press, children will produce their own series of prints, gaining a deeper understanding of oil-based ink application, its interaction with paper, and the process of cleaning.
This workshop will be tailored to the students’ individual skill levels, providing ample opportunity for each child to create multiple prints and explore their creativity to the fullest.
