Join us for a fun day learning creative sustainability and crafting with a Moana themed mobile made from materials found in nature.
One of the popular workshop activities held at this year’s Kids Arts Festival, in this one-day workshop, tamariki will discover sustainable crafting in a fun creative way, learning to bind and connect natural materials to create their very own ocean-inspired mobiles.
Sculptural and three-dimensional building techniques will be guided by resident artist, jeweller, puppeteer and filmmaker Eloiza Montaña, who will have her giant mussel shell turtle onsite to demonstrate how these same making skills can work at scale!
Children will learn how to produce their own eco-friendly glue made from basic kitchen ingredients, gluing upcycled and found objects together to create their masterpiece. This workshop goes to show, you don’t have to resort to buying toys - go outside in nature, collect treasures you can find and with a little imagination and some homemade glue you’ll spend heaps more time having real creative fun!
