Sixty Years of MOTAT has a focus on restoration and museum site development stories illustrated through the Walsh Memorial Library collection. The historic Pumphouse, aviation, locomotive and tram sections all feature alongside important events and milestones that have shaped MOTAT since opening in 1964.
The exhibition, held inside the Walsh Memorial Library at MOTAT Great North Road, gives insight into MOTAT’s formation within Te Wai Ōrea Western Springs, the foundations that were laid, and MOTAT’s site development and expansion over the past 60 years. Observe and reflect on how this iconic Auckland transport and technology museum has developed since 1964, continuing to be a place to experience technology and science with a hands-on, minds-on approach.
