In this inspiring, explorative 4-day workshop led by sculptor Julie Moselen, you will be guided through the steps necessary to create small 3-dimensional maquettes or models using wire and plaster.

A process driven artist who gains much of her inspiration from the coastal environment, Julie will teach you how to mesh your inspiration with materials, applying simple sculptural techniques while exploring abstract form as a visual language.

Beginning with a series of exercises to create 3D forms in paper based on shapes and ideas found in our surrounding environment, you will learn how to create 3 dimensional drawings in wire. These sculptures will then be covered in plaster bandage, followed by layers of plaster. Once the plaster is dry, tools will be used to carve and sand back the plaster to reveal a finished sculptural form.
