To make art about a stand of trees is to reflect on the relationship between humans and other living systems, and how this might hold together or fall apart. This exhibition is focused on isolated stands of second growth Kahikatea on the margins of East Pukekohe.

Colonisation, ecocide, environmentalism and indigenous knowledge are part of the history and wairua of these isolated stands. Kahikatea are expressions of resilience, loss, and vulnerability.

In its final two weeks, visitors to the exhibition are invited to take a drawing or ceramic piece in exchange for koha. Proceeds go to Forest & Bird Aotearoa.

Closing event: Saturday 8 March, 10.30am–1pm

Celebrate the end of the exhibition with an informal discussion and morning tea.
